Come to the beautiful Secrest Arboretum on the OSU/ATI campus in Wooster to learn natural pruning of woody ornamentals with Tim Malinich, OSU Extension Agent and Assistant Professor OSU, retired, Al Shauck, OIAA (Ohio Independent Arborist Assoc.) Vice-president, and Jason Veil, the Secrest Curator.

Here you will learn the differences of natural pruning compared to shearing, timing of pruning, the proper tools and tool maintenance, pruning dosage (the amount of pruning), and the reduced insect and disease problems associated with natural pruning that results in a more natural appearance.

Starting indoors with Tim demonstrating different pruning regimes for different plants, pruning timing and dosage relations, and tool selection and maintenance.

Lunch with participants and educators is provided.

Then, outdoors for hands-on learning on different plants on the grounds.

Bring your pruners, eyes, and minds for a day of learning in this unique setting.
