    Roses are some of the most beloved garden plants. However, they are very susceptible to a variety of plant diseases some of which can lead to extensive plant mortality. Led by Dr. Francesca Hand, this program will train attendants in identifying important diseases of garden roses and strategies for disease management. Additionally, participants will walk a research demonstration trial to get insights into the latest research being conducted at Ohio State to combat rose rosette and black spot diseases.

    Monthly tree walks feature all things trees.  A variety of topics will be covered, including proper selection and planting, insect pests and diseases. Please dress for the weather. Walks will cover large trees and small trees within the arboretum. These walks are led by arboretum staff. Registration encouraged but not required.

    Enjoy a guided walk through the largest crabapple collection in the United States. We will learn about top plants, diseases, and phenology.

    Winter is when we turn our attention from deciduous plants to the beauty of evergreens. Join us as we explore the conifers of Secrest Arboretum. We will spend time discussing the different conifers, looking at samples, and looking at specimens in the arboretum. While this workshop is not primarily focused on identification participants will come away knowing how to identify them.
