    Presented by Amy Stone, Kathy Smith, Marne Tichenell and Jim Chatfield. Our all-day school will focus on The Pervasiveness of Invasiveness, programs about the invasive species that affect our gardens, landscapes, orchards, woodlands, waterways & airways. As humans, we are all one species, Homo sapiens, we are all one, but for our plants and animals, worlds often collide, and species from different parts of the world and country take quite a toll. Lunch and materials provided.

    “He who only England knows, knows England least”, said Rudyard Kipling. So, add some holiday spice to your Ohio plant loving by enjoying tales from…England and Scotland, Massachusetts, Ecuador, the worldwide web of Mary Maloney, and right here in Ohio at Granny Creek (Joe Cochran’s Arboretum in Knox County), and of course Secrest Arboretum. Even a few notes on the plants of China, from ornamental peaches to views from Badaling. Come having already enjoyed your lunch. We will have a light repast mid-program. An afternoon of opening-up to your world of plants.

    Join The Voice Studio for a free community concert in the garden!  Enjoy the evening in a beautiful outdoor setting as singers from Wayne County and surrounding areas perform classical vocal solos from musical composers ranging from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart to Richard Strauss.  Soloists will perform these Classical pieces in Italian, French, German, Latin & English. Rain or shine; performances are only cancelled in the event of severe weather.

    This workshop is designed for beginners who have little or no experience with watercolor.  It is designed to introduce the student to the basics of working with this wonderful medium.  Topics include: the importance of brush handling to achieve certain effects, mixing paint with water in various ratios to achieve different colors and values, and understanding color theory and applying it to painting. The day will consist of several hands-on exercises, including explanation and demonstration. Questions and class input are encouraged!  A small group setting creates an easy, casual environment

    Join OSU Extension Ed Tech Specialist & macro photographer, Danae Wolfe, at Secrest Arboretum to learn the basics of shooting close-up and macro photos of insects and flowers. Workshop is from 10 AM- 3 PM each Day. Lunch is included. Day one: Intro to Macro Photography This introductory course will include the basics of photography. We'll cover the exposure triangle, creative (and inexpensive) macro techniques, and using your camera to capture great images. Day two: Field Session & Critiques
